The RUSU Student Life Awards are back for 2025! These awards celebrate the incredible contributions RMIT students make to campus life – whether it’s through leadership, volunteering, club involvement or making a positive impact in the community. It’s our chance to recognise and celebrate students who go above and beyond to make university a better place for everyone.

Club of the Year

$1,000 Award / Supports club leaders who have demonstrated exceptional organisational skill, teamwork, and innovation in building a community.

Best Club Activity

$750 Award / Supports clubs who take initiative to design and deliver outstanding student events that build connection, culture, and inclusion.

Best New Club

$500 Award / Assists student in establishing new clubs that meet emerging needs and spark engagement on campus.

Volunteer of the Year

$750 Award / Acknowledges students who have given significant time to volunteer work, contributing to the RMIT Community.

Student Life Champion

$750 Award / Supports students with a long-term, consistent track record of contribution across multiple areas of student life.

Community Wellbeing Champion

$750 Award / Recognising someone who has made a significant contribution to community wellbeing.

Inclusion & Diversity Champion

$750 Award / Recognising a student who has actively championed inclusion, equity, and diversity at RMIT or in the broader community through meaningful actions that foster belonging and challenge discrimination.

Creative Contributor Award

$500 Award / Supports students using creativity and artistic expression to enrich student culture and bring people together.

Indigenous Student Community Champion

$500 Award / Honouring an Indigenous student who demonstrates outstanding leadership, cultural pride, and commitment to strengthening mob connections and wellbeing.

Active International Student Leader

$500 Award / Recognising an international student leader who actively supports and connects fellow students, enriches campus life, and exemplifies the spirit of the RMIT experience.

Food Security Champion

$500 Award / Recognising a student who has made a significant contribution to addressing food security at RMIT or in the community, through 'hands on involvement in the delivery of food security programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

The judging panel will be comprised of RUSU Student Reps, RUSU & RMIT Staff, who will consider each application in relation to the quality and range of evidence provided by the applicant in response to each question/criterion.

All current RMIT students are able to apply. Must not be a current RUSU employee or 2024/2025 SUC Rep for RUSU, RMITV or Catalyst.
All students may nominate themselves, or another RMIT student.
RMIT staff or students may nominate another eligible student for an award. If nominating another student, the individual submitting the application must provide their contact details so that they may be contacted should we have questions about the application.   

You’ll need to provide the nominee's details, select a relevant category, and include a written statement or evidence supporting why they deserve the award.

Tell us as much information as you can! We have supplied recommended word minimums. Please go into detail where possible and attach supporting evidence.

Yes, you can nominate multiple individuals or groups, and even nominate the same person in different categories if relevant.
