Realfoods Cafe
We are a social enterprise cafe run by staff and student volunteers of RUSU. We focus on sustainability and providing ethical, affordable & healthy food options and specialty coffee. We specialise in catering to diverse dietary requirements including: gluten friendly, vegan, vegetarian, dairy free and halal friendly. Located at the bustling RMIT City Campus, providing a restful spot to have a break and enjoy your coffee.

At Realfoods, we believe that even small changes can have a positive impact on the environment and our well-being. As a business and volunteer program, our focus is on educating students, staff, and customers about how they can make a difference.

- We seek to make affordable food options for students on campus – with nothing over $10.
- We use only biodegradable and compostable packaging, avoiding single-use plastics. We also encourage the use of reusable packaging by offering discounts for keep-cups AND food containers for our curries.
- We make ethical and sustainable eating appealing to a wider audience by proving that it can still be delicious, balanced, and nutritious.
- We collaborate with students and staff on campus who share our objectives.
- We teach life skills and promote healthy eating.
- We provide valuable training opportunities in hospitality and retail for our student volunteers.
Volunteer
Our volunteers are the backbone of what we do and if you’re looking for a new challenge, to pick up some life skills and professional experience while making new friends become a Realfoods volunteer. You don’t need any experience, we’ll give you all the training you need. We even have specific kitchen skills opportunities if you’re more interested in learning more about commercial food preparation. You will also gain a food safety handling certificate in the process.
Catering - Currently Unavailable
Catering is currently unavailable due to increased demand on-site at the cafe. However, meal and coffee vouchers are still available for your event, for recipients to use at the cafe.
Coffee and Meal Cards
We offer printed coffee and meal cards that are great for student and staff rewards and recognition! For bulk orders: the card can be designed to match your campaign / include a message or logo. The card provides ONE REGULAR SIZED HOT DRINK or the choice of ONE MEAL (curry/dahl & rice, toastie, pie or salad).
Coffee Cards: 1 – 50 cards ($4.20 per card), 50+ cards ($4.00 per card)
Meal Cards: $9.90 per card (curry/dahl & rice, toastie, pie or salad)
