Realfoods is a not-for-profit, social enterprise run by staff and student volunteers of the RMIT University Student Union (RUSU). We’re focused on sustainability and providing ethical, vegan, organic & healthy food options, plus fair trade, specialty coffee from Amelia Franklin Coffee Roasters.
Our flagship store is located at the bustling City Campus, with our second store located on the leafy green, Bundoora West Campus, where you can enjoy your coffee amongst the trees, whistling birds and the occasional cheeky kangaroo.
Our ethos is built around the idea that everyone can positively impact their environment with the smallest of changes and as both a business, and volunteer program, we are dedicated to educating students, staff and our customers on how this can be achieved. Some examples of how we do this are:
Our cafes provide real world training opportunities for our student volunteers, with an excess of 200 students volunteering with us across our two stores each year. So step inside our living classroom sometime…
Education, sustainability, community; for students, by students.
We are happy to cater events scheduled between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday – Friday. Please contact us to discuss events outside of this period and we will aim to accommodate as best we can. Email your order to email@example.com, preferably with a minimum of 48 hours notice to ensure your preferred menu selection is available. We will confirm your order as soon as we can. For more information, please see our catering menu:
Our food offerings are entirely vegan, ethical and as organic as possible. We do our best to source the freshest produce locally, while aiming to keep it as affordable as possible.
Our daily menu offers a range of regional curries, salads and grains, where you can ‘build your meal’ to your liking. We also have a selection of toasties, wraps, pies and a bunch of other sweet and savoury treats. We’re mindful that many of our customers have specific dietary requirements, we regularly offer FODMAP friendly dishes plus most of our menu is gluten free. We’re always happy to discuss any other specific requests you might have.
Our volunteers are the backbone of what we do and if you’re looking for a new challenge, to pick up some life skills and professional experience while making new friends, sign up to be Realfoods volunteer! You don’t need any experience, we’ll give you all the training you need and shifts are available at both our City and Bundoora stores. We even have specific kitchen skills if you’re more interested in learning some knife skills and a little more about commercial food preparation.
