Biomedical Engineering RMIT Student Society (BERSS)

We are currently looking for students to join our 2024 team!!

The BERSS Annual General Meeting (AGM) is just around the corner! Join us on Friday, October 20th, 2023, at 4:00 pm online via Microsoft Teams (link to be emailed to BERSS 2023 Members). At the AGM, the 2023 team will recap the year, elect the 2024 leaders, and approve our 2024 activity plan. We're also introducing a new role – a second secretary. Nominations are open for executive positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary (x2). Position descriptions and more info can be found in the email sent to current members.

The BERSS team shares a drive for spreading awareness of our field, and creating opportunities for students both in and out of our specific discipline. This is done through regular workshops where they can meet and obtain advice from professionals who have become very successful in their field, and by also bolstering student connections throughout RMIT and Victoria through a variety of fun social events.

To bring these ideas to life, we have a wide mix of passionate and enthusiastic students who share the drive to see these sorts of events happen and contribute ideas for new and improved ones every year. Our club is oriented towards biomedical applications for engineering, but we are a multidisciplinary group and are accepting of all types of student backgrounds. We are looking for more students to join us everyday, and have a number of positions available listed below. Detailed role descriptions will be emailed out in an announcement to members.

To nominate yourself or someone else for these positions, you must be a 2023 BERSS club member. The form to sign up is here https://shorturl.at/aCMR7 and there is a strict cut off of 4pm on the 6th of October (this Friday)! If you’re unsure if you’re a member, sign up again and we can remove accidental double ups.
After the AGM, we'll open positions for the following committee roles if that’s more your speed: Communications Director, Event Coordinator, Social Media Manager, Graphic Designer, Year Level Representatives and more. Join BERSS to boost your skills, plan exciting events, and enhance your CV! Important: All committee members must be eligible for a Victorian Working With Children Check and be able to attend the AGM. These are fantastic ways as a student to develop leadership and teamwork skills which are invaluable in the workplace, and will carry throughout your career and life. They are also excellent ways to meet and network with like-minded students and staff all around RMIT University, and making friends throughout your university journey. Note to potential applicants:

  • No prior experience is required

  • You must be an enrolled RMIT student in 2024

  • You will be required to dedicate time to attend weekly online meetings

  • A strong work ethic and teamwork/time management skills are essential

  • Must be eligible for a Victorian Working With Children Check
