Bundoora

The RUSU Bundoora Department is committed to enhancing campus community and student engagement. We focus on advocating for student rights, improving campus spaces, and building a strong sense of community. Feel free to approach us on campus or email us with any inquiries, concerns, or ideas to improve campus life. ​

Brunswick

Welcome, Fashion & Textiles students, to RUSU Brunswick! Our vibrant campus fosters creativity and offers a comfortable space for study and relaxation. RUSU Brunswick is dedicated to enhancing campus community and student engagement through tailored events.​

Disabilities and Carers

We're here to support and advocate for disabled students and carers on campus. Our goal is to improve accessibility, foster inclusion, and create a sense of belonging at RMIT. Feel free to drop by or message us anytime—we're here for you! ​

Education

The Education department at is committed to ensuring quality education and advocating for better government policies. Working with RUSU’s Campaigns and Student Rights Officers, we address key student issues like assessments, special consideration, and group work. We strive to secure fair policies and the best academic experience for you. ​

Indigenous

At RMIT, we proudly celebrate our First Nation people! Established in 2018, the Indigenous Department supports First Nation students by creating a safe and enriching university experience. We also encourage self-education among non-First Nation individuals to foster understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures. ​

Sustainability

We advocate for environmental issues within RUSU and the broader RMIT community, organizing events that promote budget-friendly sustainable living. We also push for sustainable campus development. Realfoods, our on-campus café, supports this goal by offering affordable, healthy, and eco-friendly food, while providing volunteer opportunities for those passionate about sustainability. ​

Vocational Education ​

The Vocational Education Department supports Vocational Education (VE) and Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) students through activities and events. Primarily based at the Carlton campus, the department also extends its services to students at Brunswick, Bundoora, and City campuses, ensuring support for VE students across all locations. ​

Welfare

The Welfare Department supports students through challenges like financial difficulties and healthcare concerns, while advocating for student welfare in higher education policies. Collaborating with the Compass Drop-In Centre, we provide information, referrals, and support. RUSU also offers regular events and free services, welcoming suggestions to better meet students' needs. ​

International

The International Students department brings local and international students together to make lifelong connections through social events and skill-building activities. We welcome your concerns and ideas, advocating for your needs at RMIT. RUSU offers free, confidential support for issues like complaints, assessments, unfair fees, illness, bullying, and more. ​

Postgraduate

We support all postgraduate students throughout their studies at RMIT, fostering community through workshops, seminars, and social events. With 10,000 postgrads across campuses, we aim to create an inclusive experience, recognizing the isolating nature of postgrad life. We advocate for postgrad concerns and are affiliated with the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations (CAPA). ​

Queer

The Queer Department supports and empowers LGBTQIA+ students, advocating for their rights and wellbeing. We organize social events on and off-campus and provide safe spaces, called "Queer Lounges," for students to express themselves, study, and connect. RMIT enforces strict anti-harassment policies, and we offer confidential support through Queer Officers and a private Facebook group. ​

Women's

The Women’s Department advocates for social, political, and economic equality for women, challenging gendered power structures and institutional privileges. Through events, workshops, activism, and social gatherings, we create opportunities for RMIT women to connect and find support. We offer resources, advocacy, and safe, women-only spaces to foster independence and empowerment.
